Is It Time To Try A European Facial?

European Facial

A European facial sounds really good about now. I don’t know if this is because I have a strong urge for some wanderlust or what. In any case how good does it sound to go to Austria right now to get a world-renowned European facial right? Aww. Sign me up.

European facialists are interested in many aspects of skin and beauty care beyond basic esthetics. The American industry though I believe tends to be oriented toward the newest technology available. They are into “Anti” everything, like anti-aging like it is a problem to age. European facials are into skin health with an inside-out approach to skincare.

But what is up with the “European Facial name”? Some just call it the classic facial in some circles. Many people feel that the term European Facial is a way to glamourize a regular American facial. I guess they think it sounds better or can yield a higher price by adding “Euro.”

In my opinion, I usually can tell the difference between techniques when I see everyone perform a facial. And I will say that Europeans and quite frankly every land, country, and state have their own unique flair. I think this is great because no facial should be alike.

What Is A European Facial Treatment?

The mother of all facials. Cleanser, toner, moisturizer, mask, massage cream. Most European facials consist of four basics steps.

  • Cleansing

After the initial skin analysis, cleansing is begun by securing the hair then using cotton pads, sponges, and wipes to clean the face. Cleansing helps to remove impurities and remove makeup. This helps the esthetician to closely examine the skin condition. This way they can see whether your skin is combination, oily, dry, have blackheads, whiteheads, or the lather.

  • Exfoliation

Exfoliation is an essential part of a European facial. Here the professional will either use a chemical or mechanical exfoliation to loosen the bond between dead and living skin cells.

Based on the skin analysis the Esthetician will pick out a mask that is right for you. Either it will draw out impurities, clear up blemishes, tone and tighten the skin, and also hydrate, calm the skin.

  • Massage

Neck and shoulder massage is my favorite part and you will always find this as part of a European Facial. A massage rejuvenates and revitalizes the client. It also helps increases relaxation, circulation and metabolism, and product penetration.

  • Completion of Service

This is the close of the European facial where toners, serums, eye and lip treatments, moisturizers, and sunscreen will be applied. Then your Esthetician will tell you what you should do next. Be it home care or you making your next follow-up appointment.

European Facial Extractions

Extractions help to manually remove impurities and comedones from follicles. It is necessary in certain cases to perform extractions to release bacteria and fluids so they can heal more rapidly without scarring.

How Often Should You Get A Facial?

You should get a European facial at least every month. If you have severe acne or other skin conditions I would recommend booking your appointment every 3-4 weeks.
